With Nordic Computer's CO2 calculator CO2 REDUCE we can now estimate, how much your company will reduce the carbon footprint if you extend the life cycle of your existing datacenter hardware instead of investing in new equipment.
In a specific case from a larger, Danish company, we have estimated the CO2 savings. The company purchased two refurbished all flash storage systems with a capacity of 500 TB. Both systems were tested and refurbished in our test center.
This means that the company is saving 52 tons of CO2, when they decide to keep the equipment running in the same period, as if they had invested in completely new storage systems.
According to greenmatch.dk, a passenger on a flight from Copenhagen to New York generates about 1.5 tons of CO2. So, these are quite considerable savings that you can obtain, when it comes to CO2 emissions of your company's datacenter hardware.
Concurrently, the company has obtained significant financial savings around 40% by investing in refurbished datacenter equipment and subsequently signing a hardware maintenance agreement with Nordic Computer.
